Welcome Jo Shin!

We are happy to announce that Jo Shin will be joining the cMAS studio this fall.

With education across in Business, Communication and Digital Media and a wealth of experience working as digital strategist and marketing coordinator for the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and Out On Screen,  Jo will be investigating thanatosensitivity as a lens for understanding technological preparations for death.

“Often, technology is designed with an emphasis on “the user” and solving the user’s immediate problems, but it rarely addresses inevitable long-term outcomes and user scenarios, such as death. I am particularly interested in exploring the area of thanatosensitivity, “a novel, humanistically-grounded approach to Human Computer Interaction research and design that recognizes and actively engages with the facts of mortality, dying and death in the creation of interactive systems”, as introduced by Massimi and Charise at the Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) in 2009.” – Jo Shin
