In this work, I collaborated with my daughter Sofía to write the word “mamá” (mother in Spanish). We used grounds from her placenta. After she was born, I dehydrated and pulverized the placenta.
She wrote the word “mamá” on a piece of paper using white glue and a brush. Then she covered the word with the placenta grounds. She then shook the paper so the grounds fell off the paper until the word “mamá” was revealed. I documented the process with a camera. The complete series includes 8 photographs.
