Next Anthropocene reading group 3pm January 23rd room 3910 at SIAT
2018 was rife with grim news about the the health of our planet. From the sobering IPCC Report that claims a likely 1.5 degree increase or more in global temperature by 2052, to the death of the last male White Rhino
At the dawn of this new year we are hurtling towards the unknowable circumstances of rapidly changing Earth System. In the name of curiosity, intent to create community, and accountability for our complicity in the gargantuan entanglement of carbon fuelled capitalism, we will be gathering in 2019 to explore together what it means to be scholars in the Anthropocene age.
For the next meeting we will be starting with a macro lens that complicates the relationships between the digital and the biological.
Please come having read the following two texts: Queer Love, Gender Bending Bacteria, and Life after the Anthropocene by Eben Kirksey and Anatomy of an AI by Kate Crawford and Vladan Jole
Looking forwards to explore together!
